Only four of them are women. Of 41 female Nobel laureates, it makes "only" 10%, and of all Jewish Nobel laureates, 4/129 makes only 3%. Two of the women have earned the litterature Nobel, and none in the "hard" sciences. Since Asperger's is very much a male phenomenon, it suggests a great prevalence of Asperger amongst Nobel laureates.

There is also another notable issue. Almost all the prizes have come on hard sciences - chemistry, physics, economy, medicine, which require analytical touch; literature prizes are rarer, and many of peace prizes relate to Palestine issue.

There is also another nation which is grossly over-represented amongst the Nobels, and it is the Swedes. A nation of 8 million natives has gained 30 Nobels (one by a Swedish Finn). But of the 30 Swedish nobels, 7 of them are in literature - implying a very eloquent and culturized nation. Related to population (14 M Jews, 8 M Swedes), it is almost double to that of Jews. Swedish Nobels are 25% literature, Jewish Nobels only 7.5%

One of the symptoms of Asperger's is limited verbal skills on relation of the analytical skills. I know one engineer who is world class on her branch, but her verbal skills are barely that of a sixth-grader - she represents all the symptoms of Asperger's, including being pushy, bossy and lacking on social skills which others may interprete as rudeness. She has been never diagnosed, but I suspect her as one. I have once said "You would make a good Jew" - she is so meticulous and thorough on what she is doing, and she follows the regulations to the dash of the T. She said she is an Atheist - she didn't get the point.

Again the distinctive marks are here: few female Nobelists (the average is 10%, on Jews only 4%), and only 7.5% of them in litterature - the expectation is 20%) - a phenomenon mainly occurring on males, and limited social and verbal skills.

If Asperger's really is indeed a Jewish phenomenon, then the whole world owes them an apology - and the stereotypes become far more understandable.

Hmm, let's see.

1. An archetypal nerd. Immensely deep interst on a specific subject. Knows everything on it, and can keep half an hour presentation over it ex tempore. Extremely high ability of functioning on his or her special sector. Good 3D patternization skills. Good logical skills. Likes intellectual games, such as chess.

2. Meticulous concept on details. Strict rituals, regulations, routines and habits. Dislike any changes in routines.

3. Disdain on physical education, sports and outdoors life. Delayed motor development. May have an awkward walk. Handwriting is often poor.

4. Frugal with monetary issues to borderline of cheapness. Preoccupies himself for distresses not likely to happen. Good economical skills.

5. Awkward in social context. Reputation of being rude, pushy, bossy, ill-mannered or intolerant. Uncanny ability to irritate everyone around. Appear to lack any empathy.

6. Mediocre linguistic and communicational abilities. Inability to understand non-verbal communication. Poor facial memory. Unability to understand insult. A formal style of speaking.

7. Strange or odd kind of humour. Unability to understand others' jokes, and usually get the jokes last.

8. Preoccupation with health to the point of hypochondria. Extremely sensitive touch sensors. Can smell odours often do not notice.

9. Awkward on social relations with other gender. Strict preoccupation with family and relatives. Very monogamous and obsessive with the family.

10. Uneasy relation to stimulants such as tobacco or alcohol. Often abstains completely.

Those are not stereotypical traits of a Jew - those are medical symptoms of Asperger anamnesis!

When we think of the Jewish stereotype and traits and habits often connected to Jews, they now appear more and more the very symptoms of Asperger's and less and less as insults. Once we understand that these are psychophysiological traits and not signs of an a**hole, we can also relate to them with rational touch. It also explains why Jews often make excellent managers but poor leaders - and why Albert Einstein refused the post of the president of Israel.

Interestingly, many of the half-Jews of your Nobelist lists, like Niels Bohr, had one Lutheran parent - Scandinavian countries are Lutheran, and Sweden too is grossly over-represented amongst the Nobels! (Denmark is not *that* over-represented, "only" 13 Nobels for a nation of 4M). Lutheranism is often referred as "most Judaistic of all Christian denominations", and Scandinavians have a very autistic - cold, reserved, unemotional and intellectual - reputation. And Martin Luther himself was an Aspie! It would be nice to know the prevalence of Asperger's amongst the Scandinavians, Finns and Estonians.

I have sometimes referred Christianity as "Judaism Light". Perhaps Christianity would be "Judaism for Non-Aspergers" as well - or Lutheranism as "Christianity for Aspergers"?

Many of the Christian geniuses, like Leonardo da Vinci. are polymaths, while many of the Jewish geniuses, like Albert Einstein, are ultra-specialists. If a polymath is like a storm, then Asperger's is like a freak wave: it concentrates all the energy on one single crest of wave, which can be much taller than waves of the same cluster. Could it be that Asperger syndrome compresses all the intellectual potential to one single grand wave - enabling a person, who would otherwise be a very mediocre - to become a genius on his or her own branch? (Certainly there are Jewish polymaths, such as Richard Feynman, and Christian ultra-specialists, such as Werner Heisenberg, as well, though.)

If so, then Asperger's would be the best disorder to ever have. While it has its price, it has its benefits too.

Now what comes to my own pseudonyme, it is an occupational term - a steelmaking operations' engineer. Would a Jewess ever go to work in a steel mill, even if an engineer? Certainly not - but she sure might instead take the scholarly route after her studies and become a professor in metallurgy instead instead of going to industry and pursuing an industrial career.

All in all, this is an extremely interesting speculation, and would explain a lot - and perhaps put finally the end to Anti-Semitism.

Better explanation: the literature Nobels are the most subjective and often criticized Nobels (after the Peace prize), and literature is also the area of accomplishment that loses the most in translation. Now, the judges and nominators are all from the Swedish Academy...

The Roman sources did not portray the Jews in any sort of Aspergerish way, or even as being notably intelligent or capable. (The Roman and Jewish writers of that time commend the Jews for being brave, stoic, and lawful but not the qualities you associate with them.)

And the negative stereotypes of Jews started very early on with the early Christians fulminating against them; a good example being John Chrysostom. In the 300s and 400s AD, the stereotypes were already growing despite the fact that Jews had not been pigeonholed into ghettos or traditional occupations (no usury laws yet!), and the fact that this was only 200 years or so after the Diaspora (far too little time for any Aspergers or IQ mutations to have spread among the farflung Jews). The concentration of Jews into financing or jewelry or other clerical occupations or crafts (and urban environments) would not come for a very long time yet.

So any postulated mental difference couldn't've started the whole shebang or even been important for a good fraction of the time between the Diaspora and now.

The Ashkenazi may be a different story; you've probably heard of the theory of boosted intelligence due to sexual selection pressures in the ghettos & Jewish occupations. But that's something like half a millennium after Chrysostom and the other Christian anti-Semites, though it's possible that modern Ashkenazi perpetuate the stereotype. (Personally, I haven't heard that Aspergers or related issues are more common among Jews. If anything, I had the opposite impression.)

In your theory, do not forget that the 10 lost tribes of Ephraim are still scattered amongst the Earth, not to return until the end of this age (and yes, I understand the current debate surrounding this).

If you look back into the Hebrew origins of the bible you can see in Genesis that the earth was created by God (Elohim) and populated by God (Elohim), but that the origin of Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden was through The Lord God (the God of the Israelite's Yeshua) this is two different origins of man, with two different resulting human creations. The Lord God made his creation in his image (there is some other special differences that I won't get into but you can look it up). Israeli's beginning with Adam and Eve are fashioned by The Lord God Yeshua to 'carry' the word of God. Perhaps this is the difference you speak of when you postulate that Aspies are Jewish.

We are often called 'speakers of truth' and some of us are called by The Lord God and some of us aren't, it is a personal decision and based on the individuals personal goals relating to their own desire to be a spiritual person. Currently 90% of people identifying themselves as Jewish are Atheist, probably no more or less than any other time in history (you can be religious and have no spirit).

Now, I am going to take some real issue with you here as an Aspie adult. We are NOT lacking empathy, we rarely have time for the cloud of lies, both unconscious (97% of communication) and conscious that are necessary to function in regular society. I think there is plenty of current research that proves we actually feel far more empathy than NT's. Certainly WE understand this amongst ourselves, though NT's and sometimes other Aspies find us cold and remote. From my perspective I am repulsed by both the number of lies I must tell and the number told to me to make NT's 'comfortable' or to 'get by' in this society.

Just remember next time you are dealing with an Aspie that the words coming out of your mouth may be in direct conflict to your bodies unconscious language, we have to process all of that, and much of the time we don't know what to make of the cloud of lies foisted on us by NT's, especially when we are young it can be pretty confusing.

Now as far as this 'making Anti-Semitism' a thing of the past, you should ask yourself how you feel now that you know there is a whole race of people that thinks of itself as 'alien' to you.

We pretty much know that we are safe as long as they are still trying to 'cure' us of our 'disease'...but the moment NT's know we don't relish their 'cure' it is game on, baby, and it isn't going to be pretty (from our perspective, after all, when was the last time you sauntered to the corner store and lined up for your 'free lobotomy', it is probably as high on your list of 'things to do' as it on mine).

Lastly, I think there are very close to as many women as men who have AS, but the female brain is wired very differently than male for communication, what a man can't disguise, a woman can, because her brain can compensate in the language skills department.

I am Jewish and actually have been thinking something very similar to what this author is saying for a few years now.

I do believe that MANY...not all...but MANY Jews have traits that could be defined as mild Aspergers.

However, I would go one step further and bring the environment into play. Narcissism itself...which is something that is seen in Asperger's individuals, can also be brought on by damage emotionally in childhood and from low self esteem/self worth...something many Jews suffer from because of their history of being persecuted. I don't know if the Asperger traits seen in many Jews...including many in my family are the result of a gene or if it is a pattern of behavior that is passed from generation to generation. Or perhaps it is both. Let me explain.

Much of this narcissistic behavior some jews are known for is the result of the shame, humiliation and anxiety that Jews have felt for being ostracized throughout history.

As an example a study was done in Africa that shows how if a culture or society is repeatedly beaten down...the members of the tribe feel humiliation and their behavior turns introverted from the damage. In Africa, social scientists watched as a tribe was attacked by an enemy tribe and all the women were raped and the daughters and wives impregnated by the enemy tribesmen. The men were either killed or chased away. A year later the scientists noticed that the men had never returned even though the enemy tribesmen had long ago left the village. When the social scientists went and spoke to these men they found that it wasn't fear that kept them away...it was humiliation. They were ashamed to face the wives and daughters that were now bearing bastard children and who they could not protect from the enemy. The women were thus required to become stronger...and the men had been broken and had begun acting more introverted and repressed.

Now why does this apply to the Jewish, narcissistic theory? Since jews have been chased from country to country over the centuries. They have endured Pograms, racism and been persecuted like no other culminating in the holocaust. The emotional damage done to the families over the centuries has created an environment where many of the men have been de-masculated and humiliated for not being able to defend their families and constantly running as it were and this is why it is very common to see Jewish men raised to repress their overt masculinity and why jewish families are ravaged by guilt and shame. These emotions cause people to turn inward. It is very common for the men to be subordinate emotionally to the women in jewish households and again...the men by nature of this unhealthy dynamic then become repressed, internalized and self absorbed. It makes sense that this personality type then develops intellectually into those careers that require isolation, deep solitary thinking and the like.

Also notice that frequently jews do not work in group situations but rather as isolated individuals who belong to a group. You don't see many rock bands made of jews nor do you see that many professional athletes that are jews. Why? Because group social thinking is difficult with aspergergic traits. On the other hand you see lots of solo musicians like itzak Perlman that are jewish...but notice how this is more a solo activity that is part of a larger group.

The interesting thing is that since the creation of the state of Israel I have seen a marked difference in young people growing up in Israel and Ashkenazi Jews. It will take several generations more of new Israelis to be born and live in a secure country but if my theory holds then we should slowly see a change in jewish traits that are less Aspergic as we now have jews with the healthy self worth and self esteem that a stable home and life creates. Of course the fact that Israel is always under threat from its Arab neighbors doesn't help matters but it is still far better than running from Russia to europe and back again for centuries.

Again...I agree in large part with the Author's hypothesis and it is something that I have myself been thinking for the past several years because of things I noticed in my own family and friends that are Jewish. What I am unsure about is the genesis of it. Is it genetic...or is it the result of family behavioral patterns and emotional damage formed over the years. Or perhaps both...and perhaps the genes change over time to support such patterns. This is something else that science is just now discovering. Your genes...can actually be changed by behavior...which is something that was always thought to be impossible to happen. Anyway...great discussion and yes I can tell you that many jewish people are actually wonderful sensitive people on the inside but have difficulty 'reading' other people and therefore come across defensive, cold or selfish which is a defense mechanism because they are confused...it is totally not intentional.

One last point I would like to make. The reason I recognized this phenomena in my own family is because I grew up very much with Aspergic traits in my family in New York. I then moved to Los Angeles and became friends with a whole group of non-jewish people and lived there for over a decade. During this time I saw my social skills and abilities slowly change and improve and my confidence with it. I also started to change some of my old habitual ways of treating other people as I slowly started to notice that the way I used to act was self-centered. I became better able to 'read' people as my self worth rose. This is why I think there is a link between underlying self worth...and a person's ability to properly socialize with others. Low Self worth somehow 'blinds you' to proper interpretation...it's a kind of 'jewish paranoia' that is based on feeling afraid deep inside. However, this can be fixed as a person's self worth gains the other things seem to change as well. I experienced it first hand and today I don't think anyone would consider me to have a 'jewish personality' or to be Aspergic. The link between the environment, a person's self worth and underlying confidence...and possible Asperger genetic links cannot be dismissed.

Races, as Steven Pinker wrote in his refutational The Blank Slate, are just rather large families; families share genes and thus, genetic disposition. The possibility exists, however, that a family passing down the gene for great hand-eye coordination is likely to turn out more athletes than without. The family possessing the genes for visual acuity will likely produce good hunters, whose skill will provide nourishment. The families of the good hunters will prosper and intermarry, thus strengthening the genetic disposition in visual acuity.

Among the sons of Ashkenazi families nothing was more prized than genius at study and explication.

Prodigious students were identified early and nurtured – the gifted child of the poor was adopted by a rich family, which thus gained status and served the community, the religion, and the race.

The boys grew and regularly married into the family or extended family of the wealthy. The precocious ate better and thus lived longer, and so were more likely to mate and pass on their genes.

What were the traits indicating the nascent prodigy? With all due respect, I find this hub and conversation offensive and dangerous. Using anecdotal "research," a person can find ways to validate completely baseless and self-serving hypotheses. Instead of writing paragraphs, I will simply direct those intereste in truly learning to read Stephen Jay Gould's "The Mismeasure of Man." Gould shows how this way of thinking has hurt and damaged various groups of people throughout history. Any group can point to any other group and pick out examples to substantiate any theory.

Anecdotal research and personal hypotheses say nothing; white people have pointed to the facial features of black people to say they were closer to apes than whites.

And to the author: if you were truly interested in whether one group of people have a higher incidence of Asperger's genes, you would have started researching in medical journals (available online, for a start) to see if there were breaking studies in genetics that pointed to your hypothesis.

This hub is a vehicle of stereotypes, misunerstanding, and prejudice.

In closing, I have worked as an academic tutor with children with Asperger's Syndrom. Not that it matters, they were not Jewish.

Betcaro- I think you're projecting a bit of your own prejudice onto what is really a positive discussion. First off, people with Aspergers are not considered 'disabled' and it is more accurately just defined as a collection of traits that aren't 'good or bad' but just unique. Second, Aspergers is actually known statistically to occur more in both Jewish as well as Scandinavian ancestry. This is a fact you can look up. It is also known that Aspergers occurs more often in men than women with varying estimates putting it at about 2-3 cases in males for every 1 case in females. I can see the point that you are making that it is ignorant to state that 'all' of any race or ethnic group possesses traits or genes of a certain type...and I agree with you. I am of no illusion nor do I believe that all Jews have aspergers. I think we're talking of a 'higher incidence' than the general population but it is by no means exclusive to Jews nor do all Jews have these traits. I also don't consider it necessarily a negative thing. Many people would love the ability to focus and absorb massive amounts of information on one topic to excel in it like some Aspies do.

I find something worthwhile in everyone's comments thus far-- but probably the most prudent and intelligent comments are BETCARO's. The way the Jewish stereotypes are talked about here are too blunt and reflect some ignorance of history, except for the points made about the influence Christian oppression has had on shaping Jewish economic practices; the comment about self-esteem is almost valid, except it fails to take into consideration that sometimes people change and gain confidence when they grow up, regardless of moving to California to live with Gentiles.

I've been glad to see the people with Aspergers standing up to defend themselves and to defend the notion that emotions are intensely felt, and that it is difficult to be able to detect a change in body language that makes a lie very obvious and not say something about it. i never thought of it thus but experienced it.

I'm glad too to see the list of Nobel Prize winners. It's nice to have that accompanied by someone who pointed out why there are so many Scandinavians who have won the prize.

The cautions about the perpetuations of stereotypes should be taken to heart. And the notion that any data can be made to make a theory sound true should also be taken to heart. The anti-Semitic presumptions should be reined in.

Having said that, I'm glad to see this conversation has been started. It is worthwhile - it's original proposal is worth pursuing, but only insofar as its author stops defending him or herself and takes to heart the criticisms that would improve that theory. I would like to see the theory updated, so that it reflects a more subtle suggestion. Perhaps we can say with a bit more confidence:

The notion that there may be a connection between Jews and Aspergers is worth pursuing. it would be good to see a review of the medical, cultural, and historical literature on the topic.

This topic does not seem very PC, but that said, screw being PC. My personal observation has been that Jews have a high(er) incidence of probable Aspergers. I found this article by googling Asperger's and Jews.

I started thinking today, were all my paternal ancestors tormented in the name of Christ? And for a minute I was filled with rage at all Christians. But then remembered that the Jews were tortured in ancient Egypt.

Yesterday I saw the Australian movie, Mary and Max. Max is a 45 year old Autistic Jewish man. He reminded me of myself in some ways and of family in other ways.

It seems to me that the traits that people who hate Jews pick out and call stereotypical are similar to Aspergers.

I have always felt that the attitude towards Jews is seriously a 5000 year misunderstanding. It is strange that so many different groups of people have problems with Jews. Is it propaganda? or is it Aspergers? Maybe both with some OCD sprinkled in.

Maybe the original tribe of Hebrews started when one guy separated from everyone else because of a genetic difference that made him good at thinking but bad at socializing and then slowly a tribe formed around him or her that took an a few new outsiders here and there whenever the tribe moved and someone from another culture would be fascinated by the funny brilliant people who were easily flustered.

How exactly do you hope to make the world a better place by proving that there's an internal, genetic reason that Jews have been so persecuted? You're trying to prove that our genetic makeup causes us to be bad at socializing and basically unlikeable to the general population who is insensitive to our 'aspie' personality? This may be the most disgusting theory I've ever encountered in the name of some quest for peace and understanding!

You might want to gain a bit of knowledge about the origins of anti-Semitism, and you'd find that our "cold and selfish" personality was not actually the root of Christian anti-Semitism. The early Christians were Jews- they had the same genetic make-up as the Jews they came to hate. They developed anti-Semitic stereotypes in order to discredit Jews in their promotion of the new and improved Judaism. This is the origin, and it had nothing to do with a Jewish personality trait that people found unlikable.

It's scary how whole-heartedly many people on this thread have embraced Jewish stereotypes as truth. You are sincerely comparing aspie traits to traits that anti-Semites have created about Jews- this is a disgusting description of Jews and people with Asperger's.

Are you aware that your theory implies that 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust because Hitler and his collaborators found the Jewish personality is so unlikeable?

Hi Shazwellyn, I did not read all of the posts, but I do have a very strong reaction to this hub and I do have something to say. In the past and still in the present of the orthodox Jews, it was very typical for couples to marry first cousins, I believe that many of the problems are from inbreeding, not going outside of the religion, and keeping the blood lines at any cost. Many Jewish people have ADHD and obsessive compulsive disorder, along with aspergers. Yes the intelligence level is high but at a cost, the gene is passed on with many of the above disorders. OCD is one of the most common disorders passed on and this could account for many Jewish over achievers. I have 8 more pages I could write on this put I will save you the details…. I have every part of all of the above in my blood line!

From the above roster of actually or allegedly jewish "greats', I have serious doubts that some of them were in fact jewish---it should be borne in mind that people who are of at least 1/4 jewish blood are considered to be "jewish" by the jews themselves. In the interests of saving space and time here, I am not going to go through this list name by name but will focus on one.

The citing of Albert Einstein leaves much open to witticism and criticism...all of the conceptual and mathematical genius in the so-called "Einstein" Theories of Relativity (Special and General) were well in place before Einstein was even known and originated in far more creative minds than his. For example, the notion that time constitutes the Fourth Dimension originated with the truly gifted French inventor and scientist, Jean d'Alembert, in 1735, and was set forth in a French philosophical journal of the day. The German mathematician, Minkowski, was actually the one who conceived of a space time continuum or 4-space manifold and the idea that when one physical object is moving rectilinearly with respect to another, there is a "rotational" transformation of coordinates creating what is known as a "Lorentz invariance" in honor of H.A. Lorentz, the Dutch physicist who derived the original space-time transformation equations long before Einstein.

Einstein originally rejected the idea.

mass-energy equivalence equation? It was originally derived by the great French philosopher and mathematician, Henri Poincaire, and independently by the German theoretical physicist, Hasenoehrl, in 1900, the same year as the Quantum Theory was proposed by Max Planck...none of the above were jewish. As to whether jews with or without autism and AS look upon the world in simple black and white, one is urged to read from the pages of their TALMUD and judge for themselves just what the "outlook" of the jewish race is upon the world...and read what it therein says about the jewish attitude toward gentiles and particularly christian gentiles (and I am neither christian nor muslim) and if after reading that for yourselves, you find that you are overcome by a desire to be "tolerant" and "understanding" and "warmly receptive" to jewish AS conduct, then you are a clinically confirmable masochist, probably none too bright and you richly deserve what you will suffer soon enough.

The jewish race has been quite forcefully and violently expelled out of every single nation in Western Europe at one time or another in history beginning in 1192 with King Edward I in Britain and it was because the working people of those usury stricken lands paid the hideous price of being suicidally tolerant toward those not worthy of it and had simply had enough...just like National Socialist Germany in most recent times. I too come from a Jewish background and have aspergers and there is a kind of aspergic 'trait' in many of the Jewish side of my family that means I can identify with what you are saying, I also notice the potential for the response you are describing toward some of my friends with aspergers who are also from a Jewish background. I just found today an interesting connection - it may be pure coincidence - but interesting anyway, between Scandinavians and Ashkenazi Jews; two ethnicities with extremely high prevalence of Asperger's.

It is blue eyes.

Blue eyes is a recessive trait, and an extremely common feature amongst Scandinavians. Some 75% to 90% of Scandinavians, depending of region, have blue eyes. But I found out today that blue eyes are an extremely common feature amongst Ashkenazi Jews as well - it was mentioned in Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color that some 54% of Ukrainian Ashkenazi have blue eyes. On the eye colour map on the Wikipedia page, Israel is like a separate island with blue eyes being far more common than elsewhere.

As a gruesome detail, Hitler and his ilk considered having blue eyes as an Aryan feature - and many Nazis were dumbfounded to find that there was no way to tell a German Jew from an ethnic German by appearance; and even so, blue eyes being more common amongst German Jews than amongst ethnic Germans!

The Wikipedia page also stated that all blue-eyed people in the world (I am one, yup), do share a single common ancestor. Blue eyes is a very old mutation - dated some 6,000 to 10,000 years ago, in Levant.

A certain lady told on my blog that all the Aspies she knows have either blue or green eyes. Could it be that these two traits - blue eyes and Asperger's - are present in a similar genetic cluster? Both are extremely rare outside Scandinavia and Ashkenazi Jews, but the similarities between these two groups are peculiar. The same lady also mentioned that Asperger's is a very underdiagnosed issue amongst women, and there are many degrees of that. While I am not an Aspie, I do have many traits usually connected on women to AS. Or, let's say, the symptoms were not enough for a diagnosis...

A lost tribe found? Perhaps not, but an interesting coincidence anyway.

the same you claim applies to us Scandinavians as well. Our butts have been saved by the fact that Scandinavians have formed independent nation states in an early phase. But what you claim on Jews and persecution can be applied to Finns in a milder form - they too have been subject to quite harsh foreign rulers for centuries. Finland got independent only 1917 - and then rose from being one of the poorest states of Europe into one of richest in the world, despite four wars, depression and reparatory payments to USSR.

Scandinavians have a reputation of being rude, sullen, unemotional and having "in your face" attitude - and the flip side is honesty, trustworthiness, amazing talent on technology and mathematics (just think of Nokia and Ericsson), and talent on music. Aren't those also features connected to AS?

CountVonLuckner, what you say is basically true, but I do not like neither Anti-Semitism or Semitomania. It is not what you say, but how you present it. It is just that Jews is a nation amongst others, and it applies to Jews applies also to lesser extent my own nation, Finns. [Yes, we are genetically Scandinavians while our language is Finno-Ugric. As are the Estonians.]

My own theory is that if Jews had managed to found an own nation state in the Middle Ages, it would today resemble the Scandinavian societies a lot. Similarities in this respect are quite striking.

Traditionally, Jews have been a middleman minority, and prospered as such. It hasn't been the religion or race per se why they have traditionally been hated, but the status of a middleman minority. A middleman minority will form in a society which is wildly unequal and divided either into filthy rich and dirt poor, or into oppressed and oppressors. Such minorities can be Jews in Feudal Europe, Armenians in Turkey, Christians in Japan, Indians in several African countries, and strangest of all, the Lebanese in Ghana. A middleman minority consists of merchants, scholars, moneylenders, bankers, enterpreneurs and artesans, and they usually are hated by the poor and oppressed and viewed with suspicion by the rich and the oppressors. But the properties of Asperger's are certainly for help for the middleman minority! Finns were on their way on becoming such middleman minority in the Czarist Russia - until the October Revolution 1917 terminated that development, and Finland got her independence.

[Fortunately that didn't happen. Otherwise the whole world would hate us.]

There has been some discussion on my blog on how this trait and tendency to autism has aided Finland on surviving the wars - Helsinki was the only European capital along with London which was never occupied by a hostile force. Being autistic allows the leader to concentrate on facts and details without emotions and make decisions based solely on facts. It is said Finns tolerate better setbacks and successes, and Finnish style of leadership reflects the traits of autism. Finns are considered to be rude and sullen as leaders (just think your nearest army drill sergeant) but in a crisis they work well. Unfortunately, that is not the way on leading anyone to success - Finland is poorer than it really could be. The again the similarities with Israel couldn't be more striking.

One of my regular commentators, Jaska Brown (who said he had scored on each and every AS self-test off the scale) asked me to think about AS and leadership versus management: I wrote Finland (where the frequency of AS is 0.68% of population) can stand well hardships but badly successes and how Finland is poorer than it really would have potential - the problem is in Finnish style of management.

I wrote "Jews are like Finns run through Marshall amplifier and knob turned up to eleven". The same stereotypes apply. Finns are not known around the world as stupid, drunk, lazy or corrupt - as we have feared. Rather we are known as cold, unemotional, rude, indiscreet and geeky. Again, those are symptoms...

Since autism and AS is not a on-off state but rather a sliding scale, the traits connected to AS are likely to affect the whole population. I would like to now present a concept of "critical mass" - a percentage of AS in population, where its properties affect the whole population. And it appears that is extremely low. If 0.68% share on Finns can make the difference (the same with other Scandinavians), how will it be with Jews?

My theory is that when the critical mass of AS is reached on population, the management style is reflected on whole - becoming more managing things (as faceless factual entities) and less leading human beings. This autistic and somewhat heartless approach enables to survive hardships really well, but not really flourish and succeed but in special occassions.

Likewise, Israel is far poorer than it really would have potential. And she too has fared extremely well on wars, and has stood and tolerated incredible hardships! Isn't this again a reflection of being more concept-centered than people-centered - which is a trait of AS?

Jews have really been brilliant as middleman minorities, which also has caused a lot of antipathy, leading to Anti-Semitism. But then again thinking of Scandinavian societies; they are very homogenous, quite even income distribution, nobility means only a nice title, democratic to boot - there has not been a niche for middleman minorities, and Jews have not risen as such outstanding minorities than elsewhere, especially in Eastern Europe, where people were severly divided in oppressors and oppressed and there was a niche for a middleman minority. In a sense the middleman minority lives in dangerous or at least very precarious situation - viewed by suspicion by oppressors and by envy and hatred by the oppressed. But there neither has been ever any significant Anti-Semitism in Scandinavia - as we say in Swedish, "lika barn leker bäst" (similar kids play together best). Perhaps this similar tendency - susceptibility to AS - has enabled the Jews to blend well in the Scandinavian societies? I wrote some time ago that if Jews had managed to form a nation state in the Middle Ages (okay, the Khazar Khanate indeed was a Jewish state), it would today resemble a lot the Scandinavian states. Israel does not - but not so far.

Someone said "Jews have produced Yitzhak Perlman, Geddy Lee and Michael Henrich, but not New York Philharmonic, Rush nor Edmonton Oilers". That is again a trait on AS: a tendency to rather act as individuals than stress on teamwork and teamplay. The same can be said of Scandinavians as well in lesser scale: Scandinavians excel as individuals but not as much as groups.

On non-intellectual pursuits, Finns have really excelled as race car drivers and fighter pilots; it would be interesting to note if the traits considered typical to AS would be an asset on such profession. If such, we would expect there would have been MANY Israeli fighter aces during the Arab-Israeli wars

It would be interesting to know if Aspies are more into dogs or cats as pets. They reflect one's traits to some extent. [I love both.]

God, I'm both Swedish and Jewish, and I have scored very high on all Aspergers self-tests. I am 58 and have only recently come to understand the strong likelihood of this condition in my life - it explains so much!

An intriguing theory, and well supported anecdotally as your contributions have shown. There is another theory doing the rounds which may be compatible, and that is that the aspergers genes - of which there will be a large cluster - originate from Neanderthals. Now before anyone scoffs, Neanderthals are not the ancestors of modern humans but have evolved separately from a human-Neanderthal ancestor. However, Neanderthals are not a different species from Homo sapiens, more a sub-species and seem to have been capable of interbreeding with Homo Sapiens. The evidence of this is that the human genome carries 1 to 4% of Neanderthal DNA (A huge amount) What exactly do these Neanderthal genes contribute? Google Neanderthal and Aspergers, there is a lot of ideas and evidence out there. Is this compatible with the Jewish- Aspergers theory? I think so. Right location for a start, and a community which has kept its identity through two millenia, reducing the intermixing of genes. By the way, the neanderthals had larger brains than modern Homo Sapiens and were probably more intelligent.

It is interesting to investigate the link between Aspergers and Jewish people but you have taken this title and turned it into a Jewish love fest. Aspergers is no wonderful diagnosis. It is listed deep in abnormal psychology area of the DSM IV with associated schizoid personality and pre-schizophrenia.

Most of the Jewish names you mention I have never heard. To keep harping over and over about Einstein and Freud does no service to your point. There have been many great scientists since these two (mostly German, Chinese and Indian). Over the years Freud's theories have been reduced to bunk. Einstein was a patient lawyer in Swiss German offices, working during the heyday of German physics discovery (most all early discoveries in physics were made in Germany). He most certainly stole pieces and parts of many patient applications in order to publish his early works. Once was was forced to move away from German patient work his work fell drastically.

As for high intelligence, IQ exams are Jewish inventions (see Wechsler). They have been proven to be much slanted toward introverted, autistic types and contain no real assessment of executive processes, creativity, emotion, inventiveness or compassion. These later topics define being human and of existing within humanity. Wechsler's IQ scales define very non-human, near robotic traits such as root memory, unemotional decision making and black and white logic.

To live on earth is ALL ABOUT being human. To celebrate an abnormal psychological condition that encompasses a non-human, unemotional, introverted and loner type existence seems to define the current observation of Jewish people in our modern world. Aspergers does explain the Unabashed stealing, lying, deceiving and conceiving but it does not forgive it.

In response to your question about AS and dog and cat ownership. I am a course manager for a qualification in animal management and we have a significantly higher proportion of ASD students than in the general population, around 10%, who seem to be attracted to the course. Although their abilities vary considerably as a group, in general they make excellent animal carers showing empathy towards animals that sometimes they don't necessarily show towards their fellow human beings. The classic role model here is the severely autistic Temple Grandin. Worth a google search.

I did some research on Israeli fighter pilots in the Israeli-Arab wars, and GOSH, they are excellent pilots! They have some 39 fighter aces (=more than five aerial victories on their credit), and their top scoring ace, Giora Epstein, has 17 enemy aircraft shot down.

This is again a symptom. People with AS tendencies have excellent 3D visionary and spatial skills. Some degree of asocial tendencies is an asset for an aviator, both for a military and civilian.

It would be interesting to know if people with AS make excellent architects? Two almost certain great architectural names with very clear-cut AS symptoms come on my mind: Le Corbusier and Alvar Aalto. Both are non-Jewish, but one is a Finn. If there was a Nobel prize for architecture, how would the Jews and Scandinavians do?

Little Nell, check out Genesis 6:1-4 - the Neanderthals would certainly qualify as "nephilim" compared to Cro-Magnons. Modern Europeans carry 1% to 4% of Neanderthal genes in their genome. The Finnish folk tales speak about "jotunis", a large but solitary hominid race which inhabitated the land before the modern humans came in. Could they be Neanderthals? According to the tales, humans and jotuni occassionally married each other, and their children were exceptionally beautiful but usually sterile.

I did some check on the Israeli air force and their fighter pilots, and GOSH! They have 39 fighter aces (= pilots who have shot down 5+ enemy planes) of the Arab-Israeli wars, and their top ace, Giora Epstein, has 17 victories - the top scoring American ace in Viet Nam, Charles deBellevue, has 6.

Good 3D and spatial skills - which are essential for an aviator, both for a military and civilian - are another AS trait. One of my friend was turned down for an airliner pilot on psychological tests, he was deemed "too social for an aviator".

I just wonder how good architects will people with AS do? It certainly asks for 3D skills. Two great names of architecture - Alvar Aalto and le Corbusier - immediately pop on my mind; they certainly did possess symptoms of AS. Neither of them is Jewish, but Aalto was a Finn. [And Aalto had an obsession on marble while le Corbusier had on reinforced concrete...]

Finns are not known as very talkative people. But other Europeans tend to say "Finns speak little, but with substance". If you have seen the parody of a Perfect European, he is "talkative like a Finn".

But the visual aspect! Where do you think the SMS messaging was invented - and the very first Internet social medium, IRC? I myself like far more communicating with e-mail than by talking on telephone.

The Finnish armed forces have had problems with conscripts who have had Internet addiction. No not VDs, alcohol or drugs as are the usual issue with conscripts around the world, but with Internet and social media. The visuality of the Internet has been a real breaktrough in this respect. Give a Finn an Internet connection and he is the most social person around.

I am very certain this is the same with Jews. They are not known as great orators or makers of speeches, but communication by visual means, such as script, is a completely different matter. Another enhancer of the 3D skills is that Hebrew is read from right to left while Roman letters are read from left to right, and to be fluent in both is certainly a boost for 3D skills.

As a serendipitic effect: once I learned the Hebrew alphabet, I noticed I had become fluent in Yiddish. I knew German already, and German and Yiddish are close enough to be mutually intelligible.

James Brown, the question is not only Jews but also other genetically isolated populations, like us Scandinavians. Jews are a good sample group because of their isolated gene pool and that many other similar traits have been examined on using Jews as the sample population.

The very same stereotypes which you present are very much present amongst us Finns as well. We too are an isolated gene pool, making us a good control group.

It is a known trait that people with AS are not that good on communicative and inter-human skills. That trait can manifest itself, as you said, as unabashed stealing, lying, deceiving and conceiving - that is pretty much the trait known as "chutzpah", or "paha sisu" as we Finns say - we know that trait too. People with AS are not known of either empathy or ability to read other people's facial expression, non-verbal communication or non-verbal hints. They are also very poor to understand why normal people then get angry or violent on them.

Never attribute anything explainable by stupidity as malice. Your observations are correct, but if they can be explained better as consequences of AS rather than intentional evil, they should be handled as such.

Yup, gingers usually have fair hair and blue eyes. And the Bible confirms this is yet another Hebrew trait: Esau was ginger, as was king David. Having red hair is a stample of Jewishness both in Eastern Europe, Germany and Spain. It is far more common amongst Ashkenazim than Sephardim.

And, needless to say, gingers are quite common also in Scandinavia, Ireland and Scotland. Those Finns who aren't blonde, usually are either auburns or redheads.

Redheads do have a certain image which is pretty similar as that of AS or high function autism.

I understand the Asperger Syndrom as a way of racism against Jews. Is it has so many positive ways, the person could be respectively called in a very different way. Calling them as "autists" and as "sick", it is just an ultra discriminating way of typical jewish characters.

Today, especially in German, it is not suitable for the Germans to say to a child "you are strange because you are jewish". So the say "you are strange because you are an autist and we cannot keep you in this school".

For a child, this is EVEN WORSE, because it always thinks, that something is wrong with his/her person.

Also at the workplace, it is the best excuse for a company not to hire a jewish person: just saying he is sick of the Asperger Syndrome and cannot get along with other people.

I think, the jewish mentality is more inside- driven- from religion, focused on the true purpose and intention of an action- not on superficial gestures.

In the german society, however, it is very important to have conform gestures to be seen as an respectable individuum.

I'm not gonna waste too much time writing on this topic cause it isn't pragmatic at all. Being Jewish is a "religion" NOT a RACE! I repeat being Jewish is a "religion" NOT a RACE!!! The genetic similarities that you find in Jewish people are because they tend to marry and reproduce with people of their own faith.

Anyone who wants to be can become Jewish. Are you understanding what i'm saying? If you wanted to be YOU could be jewish. Your mom, aunt, cousin, nephew etc etc can all BE Jewish if they wanted to be. It's called converting to Judaism.

Now, lets tackle the biblical references which ppl are making. The problem with religion is that it has been misinterpreted since the formation of religion. Abraham wasn't a Jew cause Judaism wasn't even a religion at that time. Abraham was a Monotheist not a Polytheist. When you look at the Old Testament you will see that God spread man to the four corners of the Earth and confused the tongues (languages). As man evolved over time in varying regions you end up with different skin colors, eye colors, hair colors, etc etc.

Now, we can tackle the 12 tribes of Isreal. The 12 tribes of Isreal were never a specific "race" of people, but instead were "all" races of people. Isreal itself was a grand idea which was given a geographical location in ancient times. You had the Epytian Empire to the south and the Mesopotamian Empire to the north. Both empires practiced slavery, rape, murder, and heavy forms of taxation. Now, that is when God/Yhwh chose 1 of his tribes to form Isreal. That man was known as Moses. Moses was given the 10 commandments and lead a grp of people out of Egypt and into the land of Canaan/Isreal. He didn't lead 600,000 ppl it was probably more like a grp of 600 ppl. All Moses had to do was worship 1 God that was the only requirement of him. "Isreal" was NEVER a place given to 1 grp or race of people, but was a place for ALL races and ALL people as long as they worshipped 1 God. They could work and enjoy the fruits of their own labor without the concern of being enslaved, their sons murdered, daughters raped etc etc. This whole idea of the "chosen people" and Isreal being given to the "white" Jews is a theological phalacy and misinterpretation because Epytologists and Biblical scholars will clearly tell you that the sepcific tribe given the message of monotheism were "black". Yes, that is the truth my friends Moses and the Hebrew slaves written about in the book of Exodus were black Africans. This can be proven with minimal effort by researching and studying ancient Epytian hieroglyphs.

Now, we can tackle the message of Jesus/Yeshua and his "race" since it seems to be so important to misinformed people. Jesus/Yeshua was neither black nor white, but was born in Nazareth. He probably looked most like a modern day Arab. It's in scripture and gives a reference to him looking like copper. White people don't look like copper. One can also research the ancient writings of the Jewish historian Josephus and he also references what he looked like and it was neither white nor black. Remember, there is NO, Jew, or Greek, or Roman, there is only Monotheism vs Polytheism. That is and always was the true message of the various Abrahamic faiths.

Now, lets get back to your hypothesis on the practice of Judaism and AP among those ppl. To be honest it could hold some merit, but it has nothing to do with being a Jew and/or practicing Judaism, yet it most likely is rooted in their breeding practices. They marry and breed within their own faith so naturally if that gene was carried by a person or persons who practice Judaism then it would spread amongst them due to that method. Not becuase of their "race" etc etc.

I would like to say also that I am a "white" man and i'm also Agnostic. I'm not a Christian, a Jew, or a Muslim just a true seeker of truth. Religion is a true battle ground cause most ppl are too lazy to take the time to figure it out on their own and let various sects and denominations shove their theological perspectives down their throats.
