Bird Behavior, Feline Behaviour, Cats and Birds Are Friends!
71So what is it with bird's behavior when cats are around? Feline behavior emanates with a cackle to a growl whilst stooping low on the hunt for that tantilizing bird. So why can't they just be friends? This is an ideal word and the truth of the matter is that they just can't be friends - they can tease each other - but 'lets be friends' is just not going to happen! Or is it?
There are exceptions to prove the rule and I have included these in this article. There is certainly love here and a definate 'lets be friends' mentality demonstrated in the video at the end. I hope you will enjoy reading and watching!
A true story: playful bird behavior teases the cats
The birds are a terrible tease. Perhaps this is just bird behavior? The other day, under the warmth of the sun, there were lots of chattering coming from outside. It sounded like children in a playground at break time. There they were, on the rooftops and in the trees. They were having a blast!
Let's Be Friends - I Don't Think So!
Bird Behavior Upate
Ginger must have done something to upset a mother blackbird, the other day. She was fairly close to him - shreking and flapping - on the garden fence. It amused me that the cat seemed actually scared! What was all that about?
Ginger And White Patterned Cat On The Prowl
In my garden, stalking, was a ginger and white patterned cat. Prowling around, I could see he was up for a hunt. Feline behavior perhaps? Yes, natural and normal! However, by my observations, this fact was also clear to the birds. What really surprised me, however, was that far from the Birds wishing to flee from the lecherous cat, they seemed to be taunting him. It was if they were playing the game of ‘chicken’. Now is this bird behavior or that of young children? I will leave this for you to figure out.
One flew closely by - another perched nearby. There were thrilling sounds coming from the beaks of these birds. The cat, however, was bated down, ears back, tail following.
There was no distracting young Ginger! His eyes starred, glazed with only a slight flicker, here and there, from that snake of his. Typical feline behavior, wouldn't you say?
One bird flew close over him, he jumped, poised with a quick strike with his spikey claws. He missed the strike. The cackling was deafening. It was full of laughter! How do you kill a mocking bird when he is in full flight?
This is very difficult when you are being ridiculed, Ginger must have thought - well, that is what I imagined by his reaction. His display of feline behavior suggested he wasn't happy!

Cats and Playful Birds - Pride Comes Before a Fall!
So, humiliated, the cat sat up, looked around and waited. Suddenly, another bird swooped past him. This time he was too quick. He caught the youngster and held it down. All the other birds paused their noise for a moment. The noise started again, only this was a different pitch. This was like a sound of panic. In unison, the birds lifted off to safety, squawking as they went.
There isn’t a happy end to this story, except if you were proud Ginger. But then, pride does come before a fall!
